BASE ONE

BIOGRAPHY

Base One is a Nigerian rap/hip hop artiste, signed to Aquila Records. Real names Isaac Sotunde, He is regarded as one of the best new school rappers out of Nigeria.

Base One started rapping while he was studying in the University after meeting producer X Blaze who helped groom and nurture his talent. He graduated from the Lagos State University with a degree in Banking & Finance in 2012, but decided to pursue a career in music rather than take a 9 to 5 job. After an amazing freestyle performance with fellow rapper ChinkoEkun at the Olamide Live In Concert (OLIC) show in December 2014, Aquila Records’ owner Shina Peller who was in attendance was convinced he had to sign Base One. By January 2015, Base One was signed to Aquila Records.

Base One released his first official single Werey Re O in April 2015. The song which was produced by X Blaze was largely successful, and it got him nominated as Rookie Of The Year 2015 at the prestigious Headies Awards.

In January 2016, Base One followed his debut single up with a double release. The first song is a remix to the critically acclaimed Werey Re O and it featured rap heavyweights Olamide and Phyno. The second song, SkonSkon is a dance song dedicated to the streets where he’s from.

He soon followed up with At It Again featuring Kayswitch, which he released on his birthday 25th March 2016. And soon after, inspired by the harsh economic situation in Nigeria at the time, he collaborated with Fuji legend K1 De Ultimate to release Better Dey Come in June 2016.

Base One has gone on to release more successful singles since then, namely Ronaldo and Gbefun featuring Small Doctor, as well as Showcase with labelmates Airboy and Que Peller.
